I’m a final-year MBBS student in India, and I’m trying to figure out my options for eventually **working and settling abroad as a doctor**.

The usual routes people talk about are USMLE, PLAB, AMC, etc., but those seem quite far-fetched for me. I’m therefore looking at other countries and trying to understand whether there are realistic pathways that I simply haven’t come across yet.

The countries I’m currently interested in are:

* 🇹🇭 Thailand
* 🇻🇳 Vietnam
* 🇲🇾 Malaysia
* 🇸🇬 Singapore
* 🇹🇼 Taiwan

I’m **not specifically looking for a PG/residency pathway**. I’m open to pretty much any legitimate route that eventually allows me to work as a doctor there.

For example:

* If I can enter residency/PG there after my Indian MBBS → great.
* If I need to complete PG in India first and then obtain registration/work there → also fine.
* If I need to do additional training, an assessment, internship, licensing exam, or some other qualification → I’m open to that too.
* Even if there’s a non-residency route that eventually leads to medical registration and employment, I’d like to know about it.

**The end goal is simply to be able to get a medical job and eventually settle in one of these countries. The route I take to get there is secondary.**

What I’m struggling with is finding a clear explanation of how an **Indian MBBS graduate can actually progress from graduation → eligibility/registration → employment → potentially permanent residence**, particularly in the countries above.

So, for anyone who has researched or experienced this:

1. What pathways are actually available to an Indian MBBS graduate in these countries?
2. Can you work there with an Indian MBBS alone, or is additional training/assessment required?
3. Is completing PG in India first a viable route?
4. Can an Indian postgraduate qualification subsequently be recognised there?
5. Are there language/citizenship restrictions or other major barriers?
6. If someone has successfully made this transition, what did their pathway look like?

I’m mainly looking for **first-hand experience or reliable information**, rather than general “try USMLE/PLAB” advice.

Any information about even one of these countries would be really helpful.

Final-year Indian MBBS student, how can I eventually work and settle as a doctor in Southeast Asia?
