My random theory on why Themis (Greek Titan goddess of justice, divine law, and order) who was an advisor to Zeus didn’t appear in [pjo] [TOA]

SpoilerDiscussion

“During the Titanomachy, Themis came down to earth during the golden age and taught humans the practice of moderation and good behaviour. However, humanity soon forgot her lessons and began acting in sinful and disgraceful ways. So Themis returned to Mount Olympus.” - https://www.worldhistory.org/Themis/

This established she was disgusted at the mortal and become distant with them.

My theory is that what if she has repeat her pattern- Removing herself from Olympus as she was disgusted at what olympus have become.

The order collapsed when Luke sided with Kronos because the Olympian gods have been neglectful toward their kids. And the minor gods felt like they were undermined by them. And the next war with the Earth titan, what does Zeus do: Close Olympus down. And the mindset of demigods should be used and how mortals life matter little is adopted mostly by Olympian gods. That isn’t to say they never care for their children, but their action (being distant toward kids) had cause Luke and many other demigods to side with Kronos.

She probably didn’t want to support Zeus ruling. It was tyrant.

If you take the trials of Apollo for example, Zeus mainly blame Apollo, and it clear it isn’t meant to be fair, as he only targeted him.

Zeus was unironically repeating his father (Kronos) action. Even in the myth he did not want any sons to overthrown him.

Hence, Themis is not present in pjo because she is disappointed at Zeus. She used to nurse Zeus when he was a young god before the first titan vs gods war. so this was the last straw. She probably left in a way that no one would think she was rebelling before the first Great War in pjo started.

But I don’t think she isn’t just disappointed at Zeus personally. Yes, she is angry at the Olympian gods. But the two most Olympian gods she is disappointed at is :

  1. Zeus : She knows justice soon would be served. She knows the balance would soon be here. But for now, she separates from him.

  2. Apollo : she probably hates how Apollo had turned out. Or rather how Apollo held a facade. Apollo denying that this Olympus was toxic. She finds it distasteful how Apollo basically has his light dimmed.

From the mythology, she has visited him when he was birthed. And NURSED him by giving him nectar and ambrosia when Leto was exhausted from the childbirth and torment from Hera. She had make Apollo fully mature into a god by this. She had given strength to Apollo which he had slay python days later. It is quite rare for Themis (a goddess of justice, divine law,etc ) to nurse someone so Themis probably see something in Apollo. And in my interpretation, she did protect him from Zeus paranoia of thinking Apollo is going to be the som who overthrown him by being at his sides. To show to Zeus that he isn’t a threat as Zeus did value Themis opinion in the myth back then.

In one version, she even passed down her prophecy power to Apollo.

Thus, she upset at Apollo because he had acted as if this was alright.

The fates which is themis‘s daughters had out Apollo through a trial not to punish him to please Zeus. But to make Apollo to stop pretending.

To be the light inspite of the suffering he had faced throughout his immortal life, never to lose his connection to his humanity.

To remind Apollo he held the prophecy and many other domains connected to humanity, to not pretend or lose his humane side. Themis see Apollo had a chance.

And in the end of trials of Apollo, the ending kind of parallel to how Apollo first walked to Olympus.
