Emergency surgery advice please
I'm in the hospital with my second flare, less than 2 months after my first one (hospitalized for 3 days, treated with antibiotics), and after 3 days this time around, they're pretty sure I need surgery, which is supposed to be the day after tomorrow.
Because I have so much active inflammation, it will be an open surgery with an ostomy bag for at least 3 months.
I have a one year old baby at home. I have lots of family support but it's going to be hard not being able to pick him up for a month or two. I'm also still breastfeeding the baby, but may need to wean ASAP. Pumping in the hospital a second time around has been really hard. And my pain is worse, meaning I've needed more pain meds, and needed to therefore dump more milk.
Looking for any advice and stories about recovery, especially from other young women, moms, and people who had ostomy bags. What should my husband be doing now to get ready? We know the basics but appreciate stories to hear about the range of how it may go.
