If you live in an apartment complex, how well do you know your neighbors?

I know the Bellingham/Seattle freeze exists in some way, and is definitely perpetuated (in my opinion) by people being afraid of their neighbors viewing them as weird, annoying, or intrusive when they're trying to be friendly, even if there's no real reason to believe this.

My situation ties into this mindset actually. I live in an apartment and just had a new neighbor move in across from us. I wanted to give them some sweet treats as a welcome in/how do ya do gift, but I've never lived in a large apartment complex and don't know if it would be out of place. I also bake a lot and see my neighbor as an opportunity to offload my extra baked goods onto haha

Anyway, how well do you know your apartment neighbors? Would you get tired of one of them offering you cookies or brownies every other week?
