Are DrunkenSlug invites a marketing scheme, or are they really that good? How do they compare to NinjaCentral and others?

I have NinjaCentral and I'm very happy with it. I would like to add one or two more. People say good things about DrunkenSlug, but is it worth applying for an invite? I've applied for a few, but I have to admit I'm tired of it.
