I don't know how to cope at work
I am autistic so I've never really understood emotions but when I started HRT (October 2025) is was like a tsunami if emotions hit me, it was too overwhelming and it meant that I couldn't actually work on dealing with my issues.
Through most of last year (March to October 2025) I was the victim of sexual harassment and assault at work. I've never really worked through it due to having a lot of difficulties with emotions.
I reported the issue in February and it was promptly dealt with, and the person was fired. I tried to work through it but I guess I just put the feelings down like I usually do and subsequently went off on long term sick a few months later, from beginning of July to September.
Today was my first day back at work. I was filled with so much stress and anxiety due to still having to work in the same building/area. I was in so much physical pain with my chest (anxiety induced chest pains), on edge for the full day and just worrying that more things would happen to me.
I just don't know how I can cope long term with these feelings. What do people suggest on ways to help with this?
I have talked to management during my return to work meeting about my issues and there are a couple of things that can be put in place to make work easier for me but this will only help a little bit. I am also going to therapy to help with understanding and dealing with emotions but that hasn't seemed to help so far, but fingers crossed!
