What can we do for Orphaned miniatures ?

Orphaned miniature are all these units who are out of production and only playable in legend in 40.000, such as Centurions, Stormwolf, Landspeeder storm etc... the list is longer each codex release. I think horus heresy is friendly enough for them but two ways seem to exist here : One is the proxy, for example i'm using my stormwolf as a caestus assault ram, but for other miniature it can feel a bit underwhelming, how about homebrew ? Liber badab is very good and allow to play centurions exosuits. What do you think ?
