My one-year-old lobe piercings are crusty and scabbing
About fourteen months ago, I got four new piercings, two in each earlobe. I got them all on the same day and with a gun rather than a needle, which I have since learned is not advisable, so that may be contributing to the slow healing. The uppermost ones are also placed right where the lobe meets the cartilage, which I've heard can also contribute to slower healing. Also, I'll admit I didn't take care of them as well as I should have when I first got them–the piercer told me six to eight weeks was the healing time, and I didn't realize that was just the *initial* healing time, so I put in danglies at the eight week mark, which I'm sure damaged them a little. I quickly realized my mistake and put the studs back in though. One of them got irritated a while back and at the time I thought it was infected, but later I realized that it was just in too tight. I typically change them out once about every two to three weeks, and I clean them thoroughly, usually using a saline solution and antibiotic ointment. The ones on the right are pretty much completely healed and have no issues, but the ones on the left, especially the top left, are frequently covered in scabs and dried blood, and the jewelry is often bloody when I take it out. And today when I changed my earrings the top left hole bled quite a bit. (I also have another set of lobe piercings that I got over a decade ago, and I remember having quite a few issues healing those. Maybe I just have sensitive ears?) Anyway, I'm pretty sure this is abnormal, has anyone ever been in this situation before or have any advice?
