24F in Pune and somehow still looking for my people
I’ve been in Pune for almost 1.5 years now, and somehow I still haven’t really made any new friends apart from people from work.
I stay in Wakad. I do have a few office friends and they’re genuinely decent people to hang out with, but I just don’t feel that click, you know? I’ll hang out with them because I don’t really have anyone else around, but it often feels like I’m accommodating myself into a friendship rather than actually feeling excited to spend time with these people.
I really miss having people where you can randomly make plans, go out, try new places, gossip, do stupid things, or just hang out without it feeling forced.
I also have a few college friends who work in Pune, but they live quite far away. I tried keeping in touch and meeting them a few times, but most of the initiation ended up being from my side. Over time, it just stopped feeling the same. They’ve made their own circles here, which is completely understandable, but I guess the warmth and effort from both sides just isn’t there anymore.
I’ve seen a lot of people suggest things like “join a class,” “join a hobby group,” “go to events,” etc. And I get the logic behind it, but honestly, I don’t know if that works for me. If I don’t find the crowd or people interesting, I’m just not naturally interested in going back. 😭 I don’t want to force myself into activities just for the sake of making friends. I want to actually meet people I click with.
The weird part is that I’m actually a very social person. I like meeting people and doing things, so I don’t know why it’s been so difficult for me to find my kind of people here.
So yeah, I’m feeling a little stuck and would genuinely love to know how do you make real friends in Pune as an adult?
