Getting into DU has definitely been one of the best decision that I’ve made

1st sem

Okay I think this is going to be a long post, but I had to kind off just say it out loud? Or just type it because this has been a topic that I’ve been pondering over for a long time ie almost 2 months ( not that long in retrospect)
ALSO THIS TOPIC IS NOT A CLICKBAIT OR RAGEBAIT JUST HEAR ME OUT

So like most of the people, I also grew up listening about delhi university. Obviously when you’re young the idea fascinates you but you don’t really think about it that much. I just knew that Delhi university is one of the most prestigious institutions in India. But as I actually reached that phase in my life where I had to actually start thinking about my future, it wasn’t just a concept anymore it could have become my reality. Like everyone around me I also prepared for CUET hoping to pursue economics honours from DU. I also had happened to get into Ashoka University for its economics course. My CUET score was decent and I was left in a dilemma between a good du college or Ashoka.
Surprisingly a lot of people wanted me to choose Ashoka over DU. Ashoka is definitely imo one of the best private universities in India and to me I knew I couldn’t go wrong with either of the choices - but being on the internet, I was under the impression that DU is very romanticised and the ground reality was very different.

Anyways at the end of the day I came to the conclusion of picking DU as I got economics honours at the one of the best colleges of North Campus so for me that decision was a no brainer. However I still felt before actually living my college days that maybe I’m leaving a better opportunity for something that according to a lot of people is as mentioned before highly romanticised.

Anyways fast forward almost 2 months later and I’m really glad honestly that I went with my gut. One of the most unpopular aspects has been the amount of diversity that’s in DU. I’ve met so many great people from different parts of India and abroad! I’ve also been surprisingly given very good opportunities even tho it’s only my 1st year. The north campus area has been surprisingly happening ( in my opinion😅). And I also got really lucky cause all my professors are incredibly nice and teach really well. There are so many things I’ve learned in these 2 months and I might regret saying this in the future but it’s genuinely still one of the best places in India for humanities and commerce.
( I’d like to add that ik that everyone’s opinions and experiences are different and I’m not denying that this is just my opinion)

Again anyone is free to disagree with what I said I do admit that I have gotten very lucky in a lot of aspects:)
