Need a bit of help with directions

I'm in Webbed Hollow, I killed all 3 "Main bosses", the Violet Spider, "Spider" guy, and the Leshi kinda dude (the 2 phase boss in the painting), I got the needle thanks to the snake lady, and now I'm unsure where to go from there.

I went to almost every place with that needle equipped, and not one shows any progression option. Immortality hut, all the boss arenas, even to the other chapter areas where there was no progression achieved. I went to The purple locked gates in the Pagoda which are still locked btw, the temple past turtle where there's no interactive options. Didn't go to chapter 1 or 2, because those 2 were kinda done, I think, also all 3 NPCs are in a scroll so, I didn't visit 1 or 2.

Any hint or direction about where to go to progress would be much appreciated. If I missed anything that would help me unlock the purple gates, that would be helpful too. Thanks in advance
