Were my lies really worse?
My boyfriend is upset at me for lying, but he lied about something too for the same reason. When we first met, he told me he worked at a retail store a couple days a week, and then a few months later he came clean that he was insecure about being unemployed and hadn't worked there in 6 months. He was just focusing on college for now.
It did hurt that he lied, although I kind of forgot because he never mentioned shifts really. Later on in our relationship, I confessed to my boyfriend that I wasn't American. I was from another country studying with a Visa. I also confessed that my degree was different from what I told him, and that I lied about growing up nearby. He seemed very taken back and hurt. I asked him how is it different from him being insecure and lying, and he didn't have a great answer. We're equal after this right?
