Dvorak vs Colemak for writer/screenwriter?
So, I was never taught how to touch type, but I am a writer and so I feel now that it is a skill I really need to learn.
I currently hunt and peck using Qwerty, and while I am fast enough (probably 50 words per minute), I feel like now I want to swap.
I am buying myself a true split keyboard (probably a Moonlander) but my biggest problem right now is deciding between learning Dvorak or Colemak.
I hear Colemak is somewhat more similar to Qwerty, so there is a little less of a learning curve, but I don't know if that alone is good enough reasoning, or should be the reasoning, for choosing one over the other.
I just want to learn which ever is considered best for a writer/screenwriter, even if one model takes longer to learn than the other.
Is there a reason I should choose one over the other.
When I tried to learn touch typing with Qwerty, it didn't stick, because it always felt very awkward for me reaching certain keys with certain fingers, and one website I was using seemed to focus all of my practice on the left hand for some reason, and so I suffered a lot of ache in that hand, and it just made me quit learning touch typing for a long time. I hate it because of that.
I just really want to learn to type again, very free and easy, with no awkward finger reaching/stretching going on, if you see what I mean.
