New Car for Old Car replacement.
I am based in Scotland.
I am currently going through a New Vehicle for Old Vehicle replacement after my 7 week old car was involved in a multivehicle incident and has been deemed a total loss. We are at the point of the new car having been sourced and the order confirmation has been signed. The next steps are for the first year's tax and New vehicle levy being paid to register the new vehicle which an invoice has been generated and sent to myself.
I have contacted the insurance company dealing with the claim and have been informed this is my responsibility to pay as I am receiving the New vehicle.
I'm going to add that I was in no way involved in the incident, the insurance company is the provider for the Third Party responsible for my car at the time.
My thoughts are, surely the insurance company should be covering said cost as I have all ready paid that as part of the Finance Product which will be continuing with the vehicle replacement and will be at a loss in paying this again.
Nobody at the insurance company can confirm whether I can claim this as a financial loss or provide a reason for why they won't cover it other than, you're the new vehicle owner therfore it's your responsibility.
I'm really stuck on why should I have to pay this?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
I might be completely naive as I've never dealt with this before however common sense says I shouldn't be at any financial loss for anything throughout this process.
Thanks in advance for any info.
