I fear I may have to return to the subbing world…
I took a step back from subbing last school year after doing it for half a school year and one full school year. I went into the field of higher education, and it turned out to be a hot mess due to a petty, high-school feeling work environment. I was unexpectedly laid off a few months back, and with this economy my applications have been sent off to the unknown and I’ve had no luck. I am in financial ruin and don’t know what to do. Subbing was very unrewarding, and do to transportation issues, the district I would be subbing in pays very low. I have thoughts on finishing my degree and becoming a licensed teacher, but all I can think of is the anxiety of how thankless subbing was. I don’t know what to do, but I can’t keep applying for jobs and hearing nothing back. I can’t keep going with money either. Is it worth it to go back? Has the educational system gotten worse in the last year? I am at a loss for what to do.
