If you were in Carrie's shoes would you have tolerated Big's nonesense for that long?
To me they were both very messy and complicated people who couldn't communicate for shit , so I don't think Carrie was the one doing the chasing or that Big didn't want to be there because he clearly did.
However I do think that Carrie should have cut him off way sooner , I will never understand her saying to Aidan " he's in my life , he's my friend" , of course she couldn't get rid of her feelings for him that is totaly understandable and human but surely at some point she ought to think with her brain , I mean that guy was nothing but trouble and I'm sorry to say but he wasn't that good to her either.
Everytime Carrie was with Big we get to see the worst and messiest part of herself , compared to when she isn't with him : she is actually fun and bubbly. Big knew how his behavior was affecting her and yet he didn't care , and when he did acknowledge his bad behavior ( after the affair and in s5 when Carrie went to Cali) Carrie would sort of comfort him so that just gave him more leeway to be as bad as he could be.
I do think their breakup in s1 could have been avoided if they communicated better and I don't blame Big for not telling her she is the one because at that point the relationship wasn't even that strong , but I'm curious to know at what point would you have tapped out of that relationship if you were Carrie , personally it would be when he was openly checking out other women INFRONT OF HER , especially in the way he was doing which was so disrespectful!
