Question about "spin-a-split" variable coil split

Hi all,

Thinking of putting two spin a split no-load knobs in my telecaster deluxe instead of the tone knobs. My question is this:

Since it is currently wired like a Les Paul (2x volume 2x tone) will doing this split and essentially erasing the tone knobs cause the guitar to become very bright? From what I understand, when you remove the tone knob from the circuit, whether it's fully open or not, it will change the sound.
