What Should I Do For a Fraudulent Charge?
A hacker got into my Verizon account, created an affiliate Visible account in my name, and fraudulently ordered an iPhone in my name for $1700. Verizon's Fraud dept caught it and cancelled the order from their end, but they never communicated this with Visible. The hacker setup a payment plan through Affirm, and I'm getting charged for it monthly.
The Verizon Fraud dept doesn't know what to do when I call them. They either tell me to contact Visible - whose chat service has never helped me with this - or they kick me over to a different Verizon customer service dept, who also don't know what to do. Each dept just transfers me around endlessly.
I got control over the Visible account, and have tried their customer support as well, many many times. Visible's chat service is a dead-end, they never really address anything. I routinely just get ghosted by the agent, then a new agent takes over, who in turn also ghosts me. They all just talk with premade scripts. I wouldn't be surprised if I'm just talking to an LLM over and over and over.
One agent seemingly cancelled the order, but didn't do anything to tell Affirm to stop charging me, so now I can't even see the fraudulent order from the Visible account, only from my Affirm dashboard.
Affirm, for their part, keep saying they cannot cancel the charge until they receive confirmation from Visible that the order was fraudulent & has now been cancelled.
Anyone ever been in a similar situation? Looking for guidance on what I could do here. I've been getting slowly charged for an iPhone I never ordered over the course of months. I feel helpless.
