Are there still modern Christians that believe ancient Israel has anything to do with modern Israel?

I’ve seen Mexican friends name their kid Jesus, but no one would ever think he has anything to do with Jesus Christ.

However, I’ve seen people comparing this modern country named after a biblical country as “legit”.

Anyone mind delving into that a little deeper?

Israel is dividing the conservative movement in the United States right now, so that’s interesting to see. But theologically… do most of you conflate the biblical country with the modern country?
