About the pillars...
Okay, so I know that a discussion that's often brought up in the fandom is the whole "one day Twilight and the other alicorns are going to lose all their friends and family that aren't immortal" as well as the writer's response of the magic of friendship being so powerful it wouldn't let that happen. But I was rewatching Shadow Play part 1 and 2 and something just occurred to me:
The Pillars get locked in limbo for like a thousand(?) years. When they are brought back, they have no idea how much time has passed, meaning that for them it was likely that they were just banishing the Pony of Shadows and all of a sudden they're back. Then they get told they were gone for a thousand years, which is mind-boggling enough because "what do you mean a thousand years that was like two seconds".
My point with this is, all of their friends and family, all the ponies they worked so hard to save in their original legends, are now dead.
Flash Magnus' fleet? Gone. Rockhoof's village and the Mighty Helm? Gone. Sable Spirit and rest of Mistmane's village? Gone. Meadowbrook's mom and the rest of the bayou? Gone. Prince Hisan and Somnambula's village? Gone.
Even Starswirl likely lost friends and family. Sure, they were all aware of the sacrifice they were making, but they probably didn't plan on facing the aftermath. Yeah, they adapt to how the world has changed, but we never see how they cope with losing everyone they had outside of the other Pillars (and certain immortals like the Princesses)
Just think about how devastating that must be to realize that all those they put everything on the line for are now gone. Sure, they got to live longer lives and everyone passes eventually, but that's still gotta mess them up you know?
