Can Evans Sensory Purcussion Sensors work with other modules?

Question

I am buying my first E-kit. I really wanted to buy an acoustic kit, but i'll be playing in a storage unit and need to be as quiet as possible. I don't mind E-kits, but the electronic hi-hats have always bothered me SO much, they never feel real. That's when I learned about sensory purcussion, and how it's real drums, but quiet and digitally processed. It's way out of my budget to get an entire sensory kit, but I can afford $350 for the hi-hat sensor along with the rest of the E-kit.

However, I have no idea if the sensor will work with just any module, or if it needs to be an Evans brand, or even if it specifically needs specific sensory software from a more expensive module. The FAQ on Evans' website makes it sound like it technically works with other modules, but "isn't designed to" (It sounds like they're just trying to keep me in the Evans ecosystem). I don't care about all the fancy features, I just want a realistic-feeling hi-hat that works with an affordable E-kit.
