Anyone encouraged to comment, especially with a background in biology!

This is an ulipatigi’ip, “ulapati” in my conlang meaning “scythe”, coming from its distinctive crescent horns, and “gi’ip” for “beast.”

I think in my head it’s a combination of a carnivore and a scavenger, and the horns are used to pierce and impale prey, and to impress potential mates. The hair on the back and sides are used especially for sensing wind as it runs to measure speed, as well as to help detect contact with something it wasn’t expecting. The triangular skull I imagine is reminiscent of a triceratops, where the skull extends past the neck in thinner parts, I think that’s to help support its heavy horns. The hole in the back is for hearing, as well as as a small amount of smelling hardware when its face is shoved into a carcass or something. It would mainly be found in savanas, though its range has extended significantly due to being tamed and selectively bred by the intelligent species on my planet for more climate tolerance, who use them as transport since there’s not a whole lot of good options lol, then the ulapatigi’ip break out and become wild again and such.

I was just curious if this thing could theoretically exist in reality without immediately getting nuked from the gene pool. This is not meant to be from Earth, but from its own planet, but assuming it still follows similar processes of Earth like evolution and such.

The main issue I could see is its horns getting in its way while it tries to eat, but what are y’all’s thoughts?

How realistic is my fictional animal?
