Would it be cool if equipment was stored in buildings instead of an abstract stockpile?

Imagine if equipment was stored in buildings, be it supply hubs or purpose built arsenals, and you could lose it or capture it as the front moves? It would also put a hard cap to how much equipmemt you can store. Although it would also have its drawbacks I guess.
