Is it technically possible to bypass a 32 GB data limit on public/dorm Wi-Fi?

Teach Me!

I’m using a public/dormitory internet connection that has a 32 GB monthly data quota. I’m curious about how this type of quota is technically enforced and whether there are any legitimate technical methods to get around the limit or make the connection effectively unlimited.

For example, is the quota usually enforced through the router, ISP/account authentication, MAC address, device identification, a captive portal, or something else?

I’m mainly interested in understanding the technical side and hearing from people who have experience with public or dormitory networks. Are there any known weaknesses or configurations that can cause the quota to be bypassed?

I’m not asking for anything involving stealing someone else’s account or accessing unauthorized systems—I’m specifically curious about how these quota systems work and whether they can technically be circumvented.
