Weekly Gaming & Tech News (September 21st, 2026)
Greetings ladies and gentlemen and welcome back to another episode of Weekly Gaming and Tech News (WGTN). This is fourth week of the ninth month of the second year for our temporarily unemployed interpreter (still me and only me) and he’s (I’m) currently enjoying the updated gaming setup that he (I) has worked so hard on, which can be found here. Furthermore, he (I) had made a few gameplays, unboxing videos and streams on his (my) YouTube and Twitch channels, which you can check out here and here respectively. Also, since he (I) have been permanently banned from r/Arknights by some power-tripping mods who don’t want people to have fun, his (my) Reddit profile page will be where he (I) will start posting WGTN from here on out. Speaking of which, he (I) has translated some Endfield comics drawn by u/wittlered after getting his permission and you can view them here. By the way, his (my) Arknights ID is Tex#5331 if anyone wants to add him (me) as friends in the game. Anyway, without further ado, sit back, relax and let’s get right into today’s news.
Firstly, a new report suggests that a planned reboot of the Fight Night series has been shelved internally by EA Sports. The decision was reportedly made sometime in 2025, with work on the new Fight Night game already paused at the time the studio decided to scrap the reboot. Previous reports had suggested that EA intended to debut the reboot sometime after the release of EA Sports UFC 6, with the reboot even said to have cleared the pre-production stage of development at one point. Details about any gameplay or finished content for the shelved Fight Night game were not shared in the report.
Secondly, an elusive SNES RPG and its sequel are being re-released for the first time in 34 years. Lufia 1 & 2 The Sinistrals Saga was announced during the PC Gaming Show Tokyo Direct, bringing the classic SNES RPGs to modern platforms, including PS5, Switch 2, and PC, in 2027. These are not remakes, but direct ports of the original Lufia & The Fortress of Doom and its sequel, Lufia 2: Rise of the Sinistrals.
Thirdly, after four years of development and significant community involvement, Qloud Games has now confirmed that Loftia will enter Early Access on November 3 for PC and Mac, available both on Steam and the Epic Games Store. This is obviously a big victory for the developer and community, as the launch follows a $1.3 million Kickstarter campaign backed by 17,000 fans (with a closed Beta that hit 25,000 in April). Furthermore, Loftia will launch with a base price of $29.99, though players can purchase it for $24.89 during the 17% launch discount. Of course, it's worth noting that Early Access development on this community-focused MMO will continue.
Moving on, Kojima Productions has issued a new statement about its relationship with PlayStation after Sony recently opted to cancel the developer's upcoming project, Physint. Xbox Game Studios quickly picked up the publishing rights for Physint in the wake of PlayStation's decision, saving the project from full cancellation. In a statement posted on X, Kojima Productions acknowledged online rumors regarding its relationship with PlayStation after the company opted to cancel Physint (before Xbox picked it up), as well as rumors about Death Stranding sales and the studio's overall profitability. The developer says that while it normally wouldn't comment on these matters, these stories have "reached beyond the studio and have touched our fans, our creative partners, and colleagues we have worked alongside with for three decades." It encourages fans to take claims regarding these matters "with a dose of scepticism."
Next,* *the Nintendo Switch 2 is enjoying an impressive hot streak as of late, and it looks like Nintendo is going to keep the momentum going strong. The Nintendo Switch 2 hit the scene with a solid lineup of launch titles, including acclaimed third-party games like Cyberpunk 2077 and popular exclusives like Mario Kart World. Nintendo has continued to release a variety of well-reviewed Switch 2 games, including GOTY nominee Donkey Kong Bananza and more recently, Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave.
In other news, Insomniac Games responded to recent allegations that the company used AI-generated artwork in Marvel's Wolverine, quashing the rumors and providing an explanation. Marvel's Wolverine launched on September 15 as a spin-off set in the same universe as Insomniac's Marvel's Spider-Man series. An Insomniac executive denied claims that the company used AI for art assets in Marvel's Wolverine. In response to a claim alleging the use of AI concerning a distorted sign on an in-game restroom, Insomniac's Director of Community and Marketing, James Stevenson, shared that the sign was the result of a UV map bug. Stevenson confirmed that a new update for Marvel's Wolverine is on the way to fix the sign, which causes the silhouette on the sign to break apart and duplicate. The Insomniac director reiterated in his reply that the company did not use any AI-generated assets within Marvel's Wolverine.
Last but not least, Bethesda will be releasing a brand-new expansion for Fallout 76 at some point in 2027 entitled Raven Rock. The Raven Rock expansion for Fallout 76 has yet to be detailed by the studio, but we do know that its story will serve as a prequel to the aforementioned Fallout 3. As those that have played Fallout 3 will recall, Raven Rock is an extremely important location from that game, so it will be interesting to see its backstory further fleshed out in the world of Fallout 76. More information on the Fallout 76 Raven Rock expansion will come at a later date, but hopefully fans don't have to wait too much longer to see more.
As a bonus, Tokyo Gameshow 2026 is going on right now with a lot of new games from many famous developers. However, the event on the 21st will be canceled due to the approach of Typhoon No. 25 and the Respect for the Aged Day, which is a national holiday in Japan, but you can still catch up on all the news about the upcoming games and events by clicking the link above to visit the website.

You thought I was gonna promote my favorite snacks here again? Well, you’re right, but it’s only because they’re just so good. I’ve continued to enjoy desserts like pastries and cakes from a local Japanese patisserie called Banan Fukuoka. Once again, here is the link if you want to check it out. I just purchased another batch today including their new ube matcha drink and caramel choux cream puffs as well as ube burnt Basque cheesecake. Now I’m going to munch and slurp on them while playing games on my current setup, which you can view and give your opinions by clicking on the links in the first paragraph. Hope you enjoy it and see you again next week!
