RACE WEEK MEGA THREAD - Round 15: Azerbaijan
Here's where to post and read general discussions about the Azerbaijan Grand Prix this weekend.
The Track
Max Verstappen's 2025 Pole Lap
The first sector has 90 degree tight turns. The second sector has the chicane followed by the absolutely wild "Castle" section where drivers thread the needle through a gap only a few meters wide. The third sector is a high speed slalom that only needs braking around turns 16 and 19.
The Weekend
One important thing to note is all events are 24hrs early. Race day is Saturday!
WDC Standings
With only 9 races and 1 sprint left, and with Kimi Antonelli with a comfortable 81 point lead over his teammate George Russell, every race counts. A race win is worth 25 points, so if Antonelli can stay consistant there isn't much that can be done to stop him. The rest of the grid needs him to make a mistake and finish outside of points, and they need it to happen more than once.
Hardware Upgrades
Williams and Mercedes are set to bring new parts to Baku. Williams has a chance to inject some energy into their team, with aspirations of scoring points.
Isack Hadjar
It is still in question whether his wrist will be healthy enough to drive this weekend. If not, it gives Yuki Tsunoda one more chance to join Lawson and Lindblad in the fight to prove they belong in Formula 1.
The Lower Grid
Every point in every race matters with an estimated $9 million going to the team per point. Williams has new upgrades, and Cadillac has yet to score. Alpine has been surprising everyone, and that might continue. Can they catch up to Racing Bulls and take over 5th place?
The Big Question
Will any of this entertain Fernando Alonso enough to keep him in the sport?
and more!
What did we miss? What do you think is interesting about this weekend? What are you going to be watching for? Discuss!
