Nothing on ultrasound
I posted last night but then deleted because it was an anxiety ramble. I am 36 years old, 15 months postpartum, breastfed until May. I’ve had a mammogram several years ago due to breast pain and it just said I had dense tissue. A few weeks ago I felt a jelly bean sized lump when I was in the shower. It’s between 9 and 10 o’clock, deep, by my nipple. I got into see a NP the next day and she felt it and said it felt round, movable, all the “not bad” things. To complicate things, I have morphea on that breast which has caused skin changes right around where the lump was found. I got an ultrasound last week and the tech wasn’t seeing anything. I readjusted and found it and she probed again but still didn’t see anything. She said she could feel it with her probe. She left to chat with the radiologist and they agreed there was nothing but dense tissue. She basically said stop trying to feel for things and just come back for a mammogram when I’m 40. She only probed the area I pointed to and not all over. I’ve been feeling pain in the area too, which has gotten worse since finding it. Part of me feels like I’m manifesting the pain by being obsessed, but it’s still concerning. Sometimes my morphea hurts, so it’s hard to distinguish that from other things. I can’t help but to feel like I want another opinion. Should I ask to be sent back for a mammogram? I could also switch hospitals and get another ultrasound and/or mammogram. Should I ask to be referred to a breast specialist? Should I accept there is nothing and just wait?
