Review- first time renting an Airbnb and less than ideal stay [usa]
Just finished a stay in one. I was charged more than I thought I would be because I misunderstood the policy (which is on me). I checked out early, I had communicated with them during booking that I was unsure of the dates I needed and was told the first 30 days were non refundable. When I canceled the last 20 days of the reservation, not only did I not get refunded but I was charged an additional amount for canceling early. Do you think there’s anything I could do?
Aside from that, the location was sent to me when I booked and they told me I could check it out and Google Maps. I wasn’t familiar with the area so it looked fine. But we quickly found out the neighborhood wasn’t the greatest and was always loud at night with police sirens and cars backfiring. There were even gun shots and fireworks at times.
This is part of what led to us leaving as early as possible. I know the owner can’t control that I’m apparently dumb or that it’s a bad area, but at 350$ a night, I was surprised it was such a rough area.
Do I say any of this in the review? Customer service? Directly? Suck it up and count it as a multi thousand dollar mistake?
