21 years old and dont know what to do in life

Hello, i am 21 and i dont know what to do in life. Im not looking for the same old answers like you’re still young you have time etc i am looking for genuine ideas of how i can progress in my life because i feel like im way behind. I came into debt due to helping family and just never got out of it because my job isnt the greatest mixed with the cost of living, i did want to try engineering but the grades you need are alot more than what i have and school really wasnt for me. I did want to try something with a mechanical job something hands on where i could poss branch off into engineering with the skills i got from it but apparently in order to do that i need certain grades still and/or experience. I know it sounds like i have to go back to school but if theres any alternatives id love to hear them. I live in the uk specifically westmidlands so if you are unable to help thats fine i am open to just life advice. Thanks.
