Questions From a Young 20-Something: PLUR(R) Edition
I’m in my very early twenties and this was my second Lost Lands. I’ve been seeing a lot of posts across EDM subreddits talking about the disappearance of PLUR, and it feels like a lot of the time fingers get pointed at my age group. I’m not saying some of that isn’t founded, but I’m wondering how steps can be taken to change that. I’m kind of making it up as I go and interact with people so I’m open to feedback too.
I’ve tried a few things in this vein during my two years at Lost Lands: fan those around me in the crowd (and staff if I’m at the rail), call people in to dance/hype people up, participate in trade culture (I make kandi and my own sprouts to hand out), excuse me/thank you/I’m sorry, carry supplies like menstrual products, band-aids, deodorant wipes, etc. in case someone needs them, and I always have Narcan on my person (I do these events sober, but if someone goes down around me I’m going to do what I reasonably can to help).
In the spirit of self-improvement, is there anything I should be doing differently? AND/OR do you have any suggestions/advice for people who don’t want to be part of the problem?
Safe travels to everyone going home :)
