**-> Live Test firing tests in 2000s**
\>An Indian Army **T-72M1 "Ajeya"** (which uses the same 125 mm 2A46 smoothbore gun firing standard 125 mm APFSDS ammunition used by early T-90s) was positioned at **point-blank range** (more or less 100 meters) on a full-scale test module of the Kanchan armor.

\>The test was recorded in DRDO's technology bulletins and defense media at the time. The T-72's 125 mm kinetic penetrator (3BM22 and early batches of 3BM42) failed to penetrate the inner backing plate of the Kanchan composite array. The ceramic core of the armor successfully shattered the dart.

**-> The Israeli 120 mm Penetrator Trials**
\>During the joint evaluation and development of ammunition for the Arjun's 120 mm rifled gun in the late 1990s and early 2000s, India tested Israeli military (IMI) tungsten APFSDS rounds (M322/M321)

\>Israel was providing technology transfers for tungsten penetrators to the Ordnance Factory Board (OFB).

\>During these ballistic trials, Israeli 120 mm APFSDS rounds were fired directly at Kanchan test plates to establish baseline protection limits for the Arjun Mk1. The armor defeated these rounds within the specified frontal arc.
