How much should I spend on rent?

$85,000 a year salary. After 401k, taxes, deductions, medical, etc. I have $4,600 a month take home pay.

I have $40,000 in cash/cash equivalents, $65,000 in investments, and a fully paid off car worth around $25,000. I don’t have any debt.

How much should I pay for rent? I’m targeting Denver, CO or surrounding areas and i’m afraid it could be out of my budget. Is $1,700 - $2,000 appropriate?

I know theres the 30% rule but i’m not sure if having no debt and assets makes it more appropriate for me to spend that much on rent.
