I messed up our friendship by crashing out on him over an unfollow

I have a guy friend of 3 years and we have an interesting relationship. We started off with him hitting on me, but we eventually became extremely close friends. We’ve also been intimate from time to time and, for some reason, he has only ever been intimate with me. We never discussed what we were, although I personally see it as FWB. He’s also always been really jealous when it comes to other guys in my life. We never used to follow each other on instagram and I didn’t care but one day he requested me and we started following.

Months later, one day, he suddenly acted extremely strange. We were on a call and, for the first time, he basically acted like I didn’t exist. He added one of his guy friends and spent the whole call talking to him instead. I mostly just talked to his friend because he wasn’t acknowledging me anyway and I never initiated conversation between us…it was always him even in calls.

The next day, he unfollowed me on Instagram. What made it weirder was that he treated me completely normally that same day…still attentive, focused on me, and our intimacy continued. He still follows other friends and even people he barely knows, so it was specifically me. When I eventually asked him about it, he claimed he didn’t remember why he unfollowed me, which I don’t really believe. He told me to just send another request, but I didn’t. I barely even post, so it’s not like he saw something that could have triggered him.

Months later, he actually seems even more attached to me. We spend almost all our day together and He initiates all of our calls, hangouts and contact every day, and even after I stopped the intimate side, he continued seeking me out. Since moving abroad, he’s become even more affectionate…asking me to tell him I love and miss him, constantly complimenting me, talking about whoever marries me being lucky, making future plans involving me, and telling me he never wants to let me go. Even gets upset if I hide something from him.

Whenever I’ve gotten angry and tried to cut him off, he’s also desperately tried fix things.
So I strongly believe he also sees me as a very close friend he doesn’t want to lose. He’s single, so there isn’t anything else going on as far as I know for him to unfollow me. Yesterday, I was reminded of the unfollow and got really angry. I told him he was inconsiderate of me as a friend and probably just saw me as a stranger, then hung up despite him repeatedly asking me to stay and calling me back.

Was I wrong for reacting that strongly, or was the unfollow a reasonable thing to be upset about? Why would someone specifically unfollow a close friend like that and then act completely normal afterward?
