Is 499$ for a new savage Arms 110 Apex Hunter XP With Vortex Crossfire II Scope in .308 a good deal

Saw one brand new at my local Walmart. From what I have read they have discontinued this version for different models. But have heard great things about this one. Was curious if this is worth 499$ for a cheap .308 deer hunting rifle or if I should look for a different gun at that price point. Used for deer hunting in western and triad region of NC
