Postpartum Rage

Mental Health

Has anyone experienced this? How do I know when to seek help? I’m 9 months postpartum and was fortunate to skate through the first few months without PPD or PPA outside of baby blues immediately after. Pre-baby I was a very level headed person that never got overly emotional no matter the situation. I was able to communicate in a way that was calm and productive. In the last month/month and a half, I feel like I can’t even recognize myself. It’s never directed at my LO, only my husband which is a horrible feeling. I snap at him over minuscule things, instead of talking it out I yell things at him that I don’t mean. Most of the time I’m able to recognize how I’ve treated him and apologize after some time to reset. To make matters worse, my husband has a short temper so we just end up getting in huge fights about the silliest things and will avoid each other around the house like high school siblings.

I will go through phases where none of this is an issue and it seems like I’m back to my pre-baby, stable self. It feels like I, and my poor husband never know which version of myself we are going to get. I feel completely broken and have no idea how to communicate to my husband why I’m behaving the way I am. I don’t even know myself.
