Chase Freedom Flex automatically opened account after application, stuck with low CL
Hello everyone, recently applied for the chase freedom flex due to the $250 sub and attractive 5% dining and groceries for 3 and 6 months respectively.
Currently an 18 year old college student, sophomore, turn 19 in October and current chase freedom rise with 2.4k CL transitions to freedom unlimited in October. Also have Robinhood gold with 5k CL, main spend for last 10 months, and am authorized user on bofa ccr with ~7k. Listed income as $30k, rent as 950, employment status: other.
I applied for the freedom flex on the app and was approved, but only for $500. I also instantly got the welcome email on approval, DID NOT hit continue or accept or anything, and closed the app. Upon reopening the app I had the flex on my dashboard.
For all other cards I’ve applied for I’ve been given an option to accept the card. Quite frankly I would not have accepted the card had I known the limit was so low, and would have tried applying at another time. I’m not sure why my limit was so low. I do carry my statement balance over from the Robinhood card every month (~1k), but I pay no interest/fees and pay the full statement balance every cycle.
I called the rep asking for a cli, they said they can’t. Asked to transfer some of freedom rise $2400 limit, they said they need to pc to old visa freedom, but I need at least a 5k limit to pc.
Any advice on increasing the limit? Should I keep calling and try to get lucky or is there nothing more to do. A bit frustrated that I did not get to decline opening the card as I definitely wouldn’t have.
It is also a 0% apr card so that might be why the low limit? But only $500 on a 0 apr card is not something I would have wanted either.
Any and all advice is appreciated!!
