Japanese authors

There’s a book fair coming up and I really want to get my hands on some authors that I’ve read only 1 book by but feel the need to read more.

I’ve read “kafka on the shore” last year and it left quite an impression on me, it was my first book by murakami. I had some issues with it (the way women are written/described) but overall the book felt whimsical and was hard to put down, and I’m now willing to explore other books by him. Any suggestions ??

I also read “ never let me go” by kazuo ishiguro 2 years ago and I still think about it every once in a while, I tried reading “the buried giant” twice but it felt boring at the beginning and it didn’t really catch my attention, so I’m looking for something else that I’ll enjoy better. Any suggestions? I’m guessing I should try “the remains of the day” of course
