Has anyone built an AI agent that handles lead follow-ups without making the conversation feel automated?

I’m curious about people who’ve actually tried this in a real sales workflow.

Follow-ups seem like an obvious use case for agents, but once you add timing, context, previous conversations, and personalization, it gets complicated pretty fast.
