7 Spanish phrases for talking about travel with a friend (A2–B1)

Spanish for English speakers

Every phrase below is a line from a short dialogue between two friends talking about travel — local food, meeting people, what travelling teaches you, planning the next trip. They're in the order they actually come up.

  • No paras quieta, ¿eh? — You're always on the move, aren't you?
  • ¿Y qué me dices de probar platos diferentes? — And what about tasting all the different foods?
  • ¡La comida es sin duda lo mejor para mí! — The food is definitely a highlight for me!
  • Exacto, ir al extranjero realmente te abre la mente. — Exactly, going overseas really opens your mind.
  • ¿Ya sabes a dónde vas a ir después? — Do you already know where you're going next?
  • ¡Pero seguro que tienes algún sitio en mente! — But you must have somewhere in mind!
  • ¡Deberías venir conmigo! — You should come with me!

One grammar note: no paras quieta is said to a woman — for a man it's no paras quieto. And ¿y qué me dices de...? is a very natural way to turn the conversation: literally "and what do you tell me about...?"
