[Question] If all watches cost the exact same, what would you choose purely for design and functionality?
Imagine a hypothetical scenario where every single watch in the world cost the exact same amount—whether it’s a Casio F91W, an Omega Speedmaster, or a Patek Philippe Grandmaster Chime. Price tag, resale value, brand flex, and artificial scarcity no longer exist.
In this world, you have to choose your watch based strictly on its aesthetics, design language, wearing comfort, build quality, and everyday functionality.
To make this more interesting: Let’s look past the usual default answers like the Rolex Submariner. While classic tool watches (like an Explorer II, Speedmaster, or Pelagos) are fair game, I’m curious about choices driven by pure personal attraction to design and specs rather than standard hype.
Which watch are you picking?
Does your choice lean more towards rugged tool-watch utility or high-art design and finishing?
I’m curious to see what people actually value when the status symbol element is completely taken out of the equation. Looking forward to reading your choices!
