Bad experience on the Red Line. Is the bus any better?
I’m a woman in my 20s and had a pretty unsettling experience on the Red Line tonight.
It was a little after 9pm and I got on at Chinatown with a bag of food. I wasn’t alone either, there were three other women in the same car.
A woman who looked homeless came in from another car, walked right up to me and started saying she was hungry. I kinda froze and didn’t really know what to say. Then out of nowhere she just grabbed the whole bag of food I was carrying and started eating it right in front of me.
I didn’t even try to take it back bc I was scared of what she might do. It all happened so fast and I had no idea what she was gonna do next, so I just let her have it.
I know it could’ve been a lot worse, but it scared the shit out of me.
Honestly after this I don’t think I feel comfortable taking the L alone after dark anymore, especially as a woman. Is the bus any better at night?
