Are all babies really this gassy?
My baby was a preemie- born at just 2lbs at 32 weeks. I don’t know if it’s his prematurity, the fact that all his breast milk and formula has to be fortified with extra formula to be 24 calories, or if all babies are like this? He is now three months old but developmentally the age of a 3 week old baby and farts are like his worst enemy. He is rarely just happy and chilling. I’d say if he’s awake, about 50% of the time he’s scream-farting or grunting/pushing so hard it’s almost concerning. 90% of his cries are because he’s gassy and I’m just shocked any human has to fart this much. I give him mylicon frequently and just started him on probiotic drops and hoping those will be a game changer. I can’t cut out dairy because we are currently working through a freezer stash of breast milk from when he was in the NICU that dates back to a month ago so any benefit he would get wouldn’t be for a month unless I just threw out all that milk I worked so hard for.
I woke up to feed him an hour and 15 minutes ago and it only took him like 15 minutes to eat his bottle and the rest of the time we’ve just been sitting here trying to work past this gas so I can lay him back down and get one measly hour of sleep (if I’m lucky) before we have to wake up and do it all over again. I’m just so exhausted and jealous of all the people who simply feed and burp their baby and then get to go back to sleep. If this is normal, when does it get better?
