Will a guy ever change his mind after saying he is not ready for a relationship?

So I told my university friend that I’ve always had feelings for him (for years) but didn’t had the courage to tell him earlier.

I told him how much I like him. He respected my honesty and feelings I have towards him. He said I’m kind, pretty, respectful, and a pure hearted person who is difficult to find nowadays.
He said he does not have feelings for anyone and not ready for a relationship for now. He mentioned that he has no intention to hurt anyone so he is not able to accept this.
So I thanked him for rejecting me kindly, then he mentioned that he is not rejecting me, and nothing is wrong from my side. He is the one not ready for this. He asked me to be happy and see all the beautiful things around me and also within me.

I don’t know. I understood him truly, but it’s been months I still can’t seem to move on.

From his response, it seems he will never see me the way I see him.
