83yo Rhodesian (ex-Melsetter) now rotting in Adelaide son married a Mozambican woman & had kids with her. I'm disgusted and don't know what the fuck to do
I am almost 83 years old. From a country that used to be called Rhodesia, town of Melsetter. Now stuck living out the end of my days in Adelaide, Australia. My grandson (daughters side) is typing this for me cos my hands shake too much and my eyes are shit these days.
Been in a real black hole lately over my son. He went and married a non-white woman from Mozambique and theyve had children together. I havent said a single word to him about it. Just sit here with this heavy disappointment and disgust sitting in my chest like a rock. I didnt fight through the cold war and the Rhodesian Bush war for this. Not for this outcome. Feels like everything we bled for got pissed on.
I still love the boy. That aint changing. But he has disappointed me in a way that cuts deep and I dont know how to carry it. Every time I think about those kids or see a photo it just twists something inside me.
Dont lecture me on race or how everyones equal or how the worlds moved on. I aint here for that shit. I’m an old man who lived a different life and this is what it feels like from where I’m sitting. Just looking for any advice from people who might actually understand instead of preach. What the hell do I do with this feeling? Keep swallowing it till I die? Say something and risk losing him completely?
Grandson is just writing this, leave him out of any replies.
