Should I start playing Terraria on solo?

Ive been wanting to get into terraria for a while. i have atleast 300 hours in it with a friend. the thing is he kind of carries me trough alot of stuff and is always the target of the boss which always makes me feel like i didnt really play myself.

I love this game but some thing seem so incedibly tedious like making new boss summons for each boss, getting plants with specific weather conditions for potions, rng stuff and i just wanna know if you think that if things like that hold me back i should still give it a try of just go into modded terraria where i can make some of these things easier for me.
