Hi everyone, I really need to vent about a sketchy and frustrating experience my family just went through at Hill View Hospital in Bariatu.

Legal Advice Needed

My father recently needed surgery for a gallbladder stone. We went to this hospital, but the exact moment we mentioned we would be using our health insurance, the staff’s attitude completely changed. They started treating us very differently, but since he needed the surgery, we went ahead and got him admitted.

The surgery itself went fine, but the real nightmare started with the billing.

Right after the surgery, the hospital's accountant told us we had to pay an extra ₹15,000 out of pocket. He specifically demanded it in cash and flat-out refused to accept a UPI payment.

It gets worse. At the time of discharge, this same accountant suddenly increased the demand to ₹20,000. I pushed back and told him I would only pay using the hospital's official UPI. He completely denied my request. Instead, he told me to transfer the money directly into the personal account of one of the hospital's doctors!

When I demanded a proper receipt or a bill breakdown for this ₹20,000, he flatly refused. His exact excuse was: "We give the full money breakdown to the insurance company, not to the customer."

This feels like straight-up extortion and a massive scam to squeeze undocumented cash out of insurance patients. Has anyone else faced something similar at this hospital or in this city? Is there a grievance portal or medical board where I can report this accountant and the hospital?
