Chess

I need a nudge. I know it's a tarot puzzle, but I can't figure out what to do with it. There are two references to it that I have found- one where Johnny complains to Miranda and mentions saving the pawns' positions, and one where he accuses Raphael of cheating. Neither of these seem to be a clue that I can apply to the chess board. I'm hoping that someone can give me a gentle nudge or a hint as to where to find the information that I need in order to attack this puzzle.

It's one of the few cards I haven't gotten yet.
