a directory of 27 free and open-source AI tools — organized three ways: what paid tool they replace (ChatGPT Plus, Midjourney, ElevenLabs, GitHub Copilot, etc), what profession they suit, and whether they're open source / local / self-hostable.

Every entry lists the actual free-tier limits (not just "it's free") and the date I last checked it, since free plans change constantly. Covers the usual local-LLM suspects (Ollama, Open WebUI, LM Studio, Jan) plus image gen (ComfyUI, InvokeAI), transcription (Whisper, Buzz), and coding assistants (Continue, Cline, Aider).

Built it because I got tired of directories that list a tool once and never update the free-tier details. Missing something? There's a "Suggest a tool" form on the site — happy to add anything I missed.
