BDM with no Leads at top 5 company

I'm in a weird position where I think I'm the only sales person they've ever had. They have no leads for me to call, just said I should think of a niche and call that(I have done cold calling before I took this role to escape it, it was not made clear to me that this is what I would be doing when I applied for a different position they rejected me and offered me this instead). I get $120 for an appointment and 11% of new business commission. Is this a normal arrangement, it's a big company, not a massive branch though and I'm struggling. They said like an appointment a week would be good. They are willing to pay for some networking events etc, any advice and should I try and get out as soon as possible(if I even have a choice tbh).
