Realized my rejections were about experience/education/location way more than skills
Been job hunting for a while and always assumed skills were the problem, since that's what most advice online focuses on. Reworked my resume's skills section like 4 times. Nothing changed.
Then I actually went line by line through some JDs and noticed most of them had a years-of-experience cutoff, or a degree requirement, or were onsite-only, buried lower down. Stuff I'd been skimming past every time.
Built a small tool for myself to flag this before I apply, since manually checking every JD for all of that got old fast. Won't drop a link since not sure it's allowed here, but can share in comments if useful.
